when the lights go down in the city... (closed; gabe)
Man, what a week. Davin is just glad it's over. Well, kind of. He has a few appointments in the afternoon tomorrow but he's totally going to sleep in. There are no words for how much he is looking forward to sleeping in.
The guys at the shop weren't super happy about Davin hiring Jason part time. Their irritation was easy enough to ignore, even with the cracks about Davin only hiring him because he's a pretty boy. Ah, gay jokes. So original.
He texted Gabe as he was leaving the shop to see if he wanted to come over because after the week he's had he doesn't want to go out, but he doesn't really want to be alone either. Gabe makes him feel good, and he finds it easy to relax when he's being held and kissed. It wasn't exactly a booty call, because he genuinely likes Gabe and wants them to have a friendship outside of the bedroom. He just wants him there tonight.
The sun has long since set, and about halfway between the shop and his apartment, the streetlight over his head flickers out. Davin blinks up at it, and the hairs on the back of his neck raise when all the streetlights go out one by one, followed by the light in every window. Soon, Davin (and the whole city, by the looks of it) is plunged in darkness. The moon is still pretty bright, thankfully, but it'll take his eyes time to adjust.
"Power outage," he mumbles to himself, amused. There's no such thing for Davin. He touches his thumb and forefinger together just to create a reassuring spark, and then keeps walking towards home. He gets about another block behind him when he hears a noise that sends a shiver up his spine. "If I'm about t'get attacked by another fuckin' ghost I'm gonna be real mad."
He turns around slowly and peers into the darkness, stumbling backwards when he sees a shadowy figure gliding towards him. Davin huffs and takes a few hurried steps backwards, breathing heavily as his heart starts to beat faster. "Oh, goddamnit. C'mon!"
