family matters (closed; james)
Davin's encounter with Daniel left him pretty unsettled, but he did his best to put it out of his mind and get through the rest of the day at the shop. He'd texted James about it, but the conversation was brief and he doesn't really know where they stand. Jason invites him out for a beer and Davin nearly takes him up on it, but he decides to go home instead.
Once he's in his apartment he takes his phone out of his pocket and looks at the blank screen, feeling unsure of himself. Part of him wants to call James, and another part wants to be left alone. He isn't sure which part is bigger. He drops the phone on the sofa and heads into the bathroom and undresses, taking a shower to get all the dirt and grease off of his skin.
While he's in the shower, he thinks. Daniel seemed to think that what he'd done was that big of a deal, or that it was at least justifiable. He had to have felt some guilt, though, if he came to Davin to tell him what he'd done. James didn't seem too entirely surprised by it either. Is this just something Davin should learn to expect when dating a Thornton? Did he sign away his right to privacy when he agreed to go on that first date?
He's no less confused when he gets out of the shower and he dries off without looking at the mirror, toweling off his messy hair and then pulling on a pair of plaid pajama bottoms and a black t-shirt. Once he's back in the living room, it only takes him a second to decide what he wants to do and he heads straight for the kitchen.
Right now? He just really needs to make some hot cocoa.
